We ended up not really doing anything crazy for spring break this year. No camping anywhere this year. Instead we had a really great weekend (mine started Wednesday afternoon!). Wednesday, I got out of work at noon and went to my first appointment with a new dermatologist. I feel really good about the regimen she started me on, and so far, it seems to be good. Thursday was my "getting stuff done" day. I went into work to take pictures of everyone for our new office website (http://www.drdanielbressler.com). The pictures that are up right now don't convey the right message (although it is an accurate portrayal of the office). Instead I took "headshot" type of pictures of everyone. I am thrilled that they turned out so well!! I will post some at the bottom of this post. After I went to work, I had lunch with my mom and then came home and deep cleaned the house :-)

Jeff had Friday off. He went mountain biking with his friend from work in the morning, and I went to the gym. It felt great to get back into it after taking a little bit of time off last week to study for midterms. That's all you need is to just get up and do it, then once you are exercising, you realize how much you love it. I love working out at the gym at SDSU because they have lots of TVs in the cardio room and you have your own set of speakers. I often find that I am so engrossed in a TV show (lame, I know!) that I don't want to stop after an hour...I want to keep going. Friday I was going between Jackie Warner's Workout and The E! True Hollywood Story of Heidi Klum...good stuff. Anyway, afterwards, we just kind of hung out at home. I made a big dinner and we stuffed ourselves full of pork chops and mashed potatoes!

Saturday (yesterday) I went for a long run in the canyon by our house...I haven't done that run in a while, and it really really really works you out. Next time anyone comes to visit, we should do it...lots of fun! Jeff worked on de-bugging some of our plants in the garden (aphids on the brussel sprouts and a reoccuring earwig problem...grrr) while I sat out in the sun and studied. In the afternoon, we brought our cars over to my parents house and gave them a good scrubbing. My mom went with my grandma to her 55yr high school reunion, so it was just my dad there. It was really good to hang out with him. We got my car very clean, and even rubbed out some of the huge scratches on the bumpers. After cleaning our cars, we BBQ'd chicken kabobs and squash. It was so delicious. I am kind of on a grilled squash kick lately...So good! Then we came home and watched Lost :-)

I don't know what is on the agenda for today, but it is my last day before spring break ends. It will probably entail me doing some homework and Jeff working on some music. Next weekend, we might go up to see everyone in Las Vegas (if we can ge Jeff's jury duty continued). I will keep you posted!

Almost Spring Break!

I can't wait for spring break. It technically starts tomorrow after my last mid term, and I can't wait! I took this morning off of class to study, and I hope it pays off. My physiology test today is half multiple choice, half essay...oh geez louise!

Then my two tomorrow I haven't even studied for. Looks like I have a long day ahead of me :-)

Top O The Mornin' To Ya...

My whole life for St. Patty's Day, we have had Corned Beef and Cabbage, and I sometimes think I like it better than Thanksgiving dinner food... Wait, I DO like it better! Last night, my grandma made corned beef and cabbage and had Jeff and I over for some Irish food. It was awesome!

Other than that, things over here have been going well. I have been really busy with school and Jeff has been really busy with the band. When we have spare time we will watch DVR'd The Office or American Idol.

I have spring break pretty soon though, March 30 - April 3... We are talking about going camping in Southern Utah (which I would love!). I'll try to keep ya'll posted!

Have a great week everyone :-)

Happy 2009 - Finally!

Hello!

Sorry it has been a while since I have updated. The school year ended and it seems like to long ago. I am proud to say that I got a 4.0 this semester. It was very hard, and I had many a nervous breakdowns, but I got through it!

Last semester was also the last semester that I would be working full time while going to school. Starting January 1st, I have been working 20 hours a week. It has been nice so far because school doesn't start until next week. I have actually been able to go to the gym :-) It's been great.

Jeff and I spent Christmas with his family and we had a great time. We stayed up there for a week, and it was a really nice break. It had snowed a lot in Utah this year, so the backyard got turned into a winter wonderland. Although I had been Ice Skating before (or as I like to call it...Figure Skating :-) I hadn't ever been with a hockey stick in hand. It was a lot of fun! I didn't even fall once.

When we were at the Salt lake Airport (leaving Utah), it was announced that our flight was oversold, and they needed volunteers to fly home on a later flight. Seeing that we had nothing to do, we took them up on the offer. On the plus side, we got two 400 dollar fligtht vouchers and free food in the airport. On the negative, we were in the Salt Lake Airport for 12 hours. It was boring, but Jeff had my laptop and I had Twilight (and now I am halfway through Breaking Dawn, if that gives you a hint as to how I have spent most of my New Year...).

After we got home, Katie (Jeff's sister) came to visit us for a couple days. The weather wasn't in the 80's (what it has been this week. Practically summer) but it was good enough to get some San Diego fun in. We took her to a bunch of different restaurants and spent a lot of quality time together. It was really nice having her with us. We also realized that our house is definitely big enough for more, so anyone who wants to come down to visit, please do!

Since then, we have been getting on with work. We have been seeing a lot of movies too. Since Christmas, I have seen: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Doubt, The Wrestler, Grand Torino, Milk and Twilight. It has been pretty fun. Hopefully this weekend, I can drag Jeff to go see Slumdog Millionaire or Frost/Nixon.

As for our future plans...School starts next week for me, and Jeff has a show on Wednesday. The Softlightes are still recording, but their new stuff is sounding really good. There is a new video on their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/thesoftlightes (The star of the video is Jeff's hands. It is "Part One, I wrote a letter).

Well, that's it! Until next time...

Message from Glenn Beck

I have been listening to too much conservative talk radio lately, it's really becoming a habit! My favorite is Glenn Beck. Everything that comes out of his mouth makes me say "Yeah! That's true! What a smart guy!"

And this was one of those...I really like it and wanted to share it with all of you. It is a "checklist" for becoming a leader in the hard times up ahead. It's pretty good!

Find Your Voice List

November 17, 2008 - 13:35 ET

FIND YOUR VOICE
You are your own voice. Others may be silenced. Who will lead if your guy 'who speaks for you' is gone?

FIND YOURSELF
Who are you really? What do you believe? Have you been pushed and challenged? Do you know where you stand? Can you support it with real facts?

FIND YOUR WEAKNESS
Don’t ignore your weakness. Make your weakness into your strength.

FIND YOUR VALUES
Make it your focus, work at them. Values don’t just ‘happen’ they are developed. A house divided against cannot stand. Be the same person at home, at work, in public and private.

FIND YOUR LOVE
Too much hate has been planted. Uproot it, pull it out and replace it with goodwill for those of different faiths, political party or viewpoints.

FIND YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS
Connect and encourage those who put Constitution and service to God first. Help them wake others.

FIND YOUR JOY
It will not come from places that Americans are encouraged to find it. True joy won’t be found in stores, sex or power. You will need to know where your unlimited supply can be found. Look to your family. Look at selfless service. But you have to find it for yourself.

Ronald Reagan

There has been a lot of emotional ups and downs with this election season. It started out during the primaries, slowly going up with Mitt Romney gaining in poularity and the polls... Then after his defeat by John McCain, it went back down again. Then McCain chose Sarah Palin for VP and she gave her speech at the Republican National Convention and it went back up again. Then we started learning more about her, and it slowly went back down. In the few weeks just before the election, I would say it went down even more when I realized that McCain is the lesser of two evils and he isn't going to win no matter what. After all the votes have been cast, I see now that it is the best possible thing for the republican party. We need four years to re-group and get back to our conservative core values.

I have always said that Thomas Jefferson was my all time favorite president because he was all about small federal government, and promoted the exploration of America. He also promoted small business and a self sustaining mentality (wiht the yeoman farmer movement). However recently, I have really been reading more and more on Ronald Reagan, and feel like what he had to say really applies to what we are dealing with today. He was a great leader and a wonderful role model for the republican party. In honor of Ronald Reagan, here are some good quotes from him that really speak to what is going on today...

“Man is not free unless government is limited.”

“If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

“The Republican message is simple: Our country's best days are still to come, and with faith and courage, we can build a genuine opportunity society, a nation where all women and men have the chance to go forward just as far as their dreams and talents will take them.”

“High taxes, we are told, are somehow good for us, as if, when government spends our money it isn’t inflationary, but when we spend it, it is. Those who preside over the worst energy shortage in our history tell us to use less, so that we will run out of oil, gasoline and natural gas a little more slowly. Conservation is desirable, of course, for we must not waste energy. But conservation is not the sole answer to our energy needs.” (At the republican national convention acceptance speech in 1980)

“Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the democrats believe every day is April 15.”

“Some people wonder all their lives if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem.”

“There are no easy answers' but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.”

“Thomas Jefferson once said, 'We should never judge a president by his age, only by his works.' And ever since he told me that, I stopped worrying.”

“We might come closer to balancing the Budget if all of us lived closer to the Commandments and the Golden Rule.”

"Democracy is worth dying for, because it's the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man."

“All great change in America begins at the dinner table.”
